NJ Weddings Your Big Days' Time Line

Image
Wedding Day Timeline:  1. Order vs. Time:   When we are constructing a wedding day timeline for a client the order is more important than the exact time.  While it’s helpful to map out time blocks, picking an exact time will only set you up for failure.  For example: 7:25pm-First Dance, 7:28 Father/Daughter Dance is way too specific.  While the song you selected for your first dance may be 3 minutes and 30 seconds this scenario leaves no time for the band to interact with you and set up a meaningful introduction for your father/daughter dance.  And chances are, some things will take longer than anticipated and others a little shorter.  Instead, identify the order that works best for you and your fiancé and trust your vendors to implement it!  A little Flexibility and Trust are key. 2. Ask For Feedback:  Once you have a good idea of the flow you and your partner envision for the day, it’s a great idea to reach out to your vendors for feedback.  Your band will have some great ide

THE FUNKTION BAND LIGHTS UP THE SILK CITY

Image
The Funktion THE FUNKTION BAND LIGHTS UP THE SILK CITY July 14th, 2013 |  The corner of Main and Ward Streets in Paterson, New Jersey, was transformed into a festive atmosphere of carnival rides, food booths, and vendors.  Stores stretching down both venues offered sidewalk sales, and more.  Literally thousands of area residents filled the streets, in anticipation of the annual, 4 th  of July, fireworks display. At center stage was the large band shell from which music had been played, a magician had performed, and even Uncle Sam on stilts had danced. THE FUNKTION BAND LIGHTS UP THE SILK CITY As the high heat and humidity continued to hover, few noticed as the final band for the evening set up.  Most were preoccupied with searching for a cold drink, or simply counting away the time until the pyrotechnic finale.  Some that did notice more music on the way, may have, a la, Simon Cowell, thought, “This will be just another karaoke or cruise ship band.” Nothing from th

The Funktion Dance and Wedding Band NJ: Reception wedding tips

If you've been to A few weddings, what do you really remember:  From the  flowers and the candles to the dress and the ride, the typical wedding can be as predictable and generic as your Uncle Pete's dance moves. For your wedding to stand out and really be you-you need to involve your guests in the sentiment and process of the day. Its not the cake or the great food that will be remembered, but the time of a lifetime and the beautiful bride. After your guests take in the beauty of the flowers and the elegant dance hall-whats left?  YOU-The lucky fella - and The Party. Here are some tips to make your wedding a party in every sense of the word while maintaining your vision- whether very sophisticated or simplistic and rocking.  We here every time- we want a great party...period.  What allows it to happen? 1. Hire the best Live entertainment: A DJ is fine but you will never get the energy only great live music can provide. Its just a fact. From organic crowd interractio

The New York Wedding Band Sink Hole

I came across this post today and it is appauling.  " we met with the booking agent for .... Orchestras in their lovely Upper West Side offices. the  schtick is that all the bands are led by female bandleaders. cute, no? although the two principals of the ( -named group - ) were booked for our date (at their going rate of about $28K per wedding), there were two orchestras still available:  (just under $20K). both singers were very talented in their genre, but we felt that when confronted with hip-hop or rock, their interpretations left something to be desired. for some reason all the Starlight bands evoked the  Sweeney Sisters from Saturday Night Live" 2010      I dont discredit anyone for making the money, but this is robbery with a smile and this is a warning to brides and grooms that this is foolery. Regardless of your income and status, this is still unnecessary- the quality is out there. I implore you to shop and don't be sold on what looks glossy, cheesy and qu
