The Funktion THE FUNKTION BAND LIGHTS UP THE SILK CITY July 14th, 2013 |  The corner of Main and Ward Streets in Paterson, New Jersey, was transformed into a festive atmosphere of carnival rides, food booths, and vendors.  Stores stretching down both venues offered sidewalk sales, and more.  Literally thousands of area residents filled the streets, in anticipation of the annual, 4 th  of July, fireworks display. At center stage was the large band shell from which music had been played, a magician had performed, and even Uncle Sam on stilts had danced. I have had the pleasure of hiring Ken and his band for our Fundraiser which brings a crowd of 2000+ people. Our donors LOVED them. The music was diverse and the sound incredible. Ken is very professional and easy to work with. I have recommended them to many people and all have had raving reviews of their experiences as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if some day we see them playing for Huge arenas!! We will be having Ken again this Fall. I look forward to a great time!! The smell of sausages, cheesesteaks and shish kebabs wafted down the block. Downtown  Paterson  became a carnival scene on Saturday as hundreds of people partook in the city’s 10th annual Fireworks Extravaganza, a daylong event of non-stop entertainment that culminated in a spectacular pyrotechnic display. “I love this,’’ said  Paterson  resident Debra Holt, mother of the former boxing champion Kendall Holt.  “They need to do more things like this for the community,”
