The Funktion Hi Ken, It has been a blissful whirlwind of a few weeks, but we are finally back to reality and catching up on life, emails, etc. We want to thank you and everyone else in The Funktion for truly making our wedding PHENOMENAL. You surpassed all of our expectations!! Starting with your rendition of U2's "All I Want is You" for our first dance, which Ross and I continue to talk about because it was (I can't believe I'm saying this...) BETTER tha n the original, you continued to nail every song throughout the night. Other highlights were Sledgehammer, I Wanna Dance with Somebody , and of course, Shut Up and Dance. Honestly, every song was fabulous, and the entire band had an energetic, fun-filled, entertaining presence. There was never a dull moment, and the dance floor was packed all night. We are still hearing comments from guests about how awesome you were, and many have asked for your contact info for their future events. Ken, we can't thank you

OK- We have been there and have seen it all. More small tips for a great reception or party DON’T:  Call for group photos when the dance floor is packed: When your photographer decides to take group shots when the dance floor is rockin’, either 1/2 the dance floor goes outside to take the picture, or the bandleader has to clear the dance floor to do these shots. This kills the momentum of the party. DO:  Try having the photographer do group shots during background music time. The bandleader will be happy to coordinate this with your photographer. DON’T:   No dance music during the meal: Quite often, the caterer or venue asks the band to stop the dancing and get everyone seated for dinner, and then does not bring out food for 10 or 15 minutes. We know the importance of having everyone seated to enjoy the main course while it is hot. However, we are  very skilled at taking the cue from watching the servers, and will automatically slow the music down once service really beg

Dear Funktion Band Words can not express how much I enjoyed 'grooving' to The Funktion Band at The Festival in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Their individual talents are remarkable, together they are spectacular. From old school funk, to new school pop, the band played it all - and they played it very well! Their joyful energy electrified the crowd and had many, if not all, people dancing to their funky tunes. WHO NEEDS A RADIO WHEN YOU HAVE THE FUNKTION BAND?!?! Ok, we now have performed at probably 300 weddings in the last 4 years. Its an amazing accomplishment and certainly a testament to quality driven live live music. What I ask every client is this: What do you really want on your big day? Answer: For my guests and I to have a great party and everyone to dance and enjoy themselves. My response: Us as well. This is a universal response that may seem at first over simplified, but think about it. Your event, wedding, gathering of family and friends is first and foremost a celebration!!. Period. All the prior work of planning is done... So then, this leads me to ask my next question .... What separates a great celebration from an ok one? Cairnwood Estate will open its doors Thursday, August 14 for a romantic end-of-the summer evening including a wine tasting showcasing wines from around the world, entertainment by the band Funktion from Philly Event Group, and a chance to explore the Beaux Arts-style mansion and its lush grounds. Visitors are invited  to experience the grandeur of the “Gilded Age” from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Co-hosting the event is Frank’s Union Wine Mart of Wilmington, Delaware, which will provide international wines. Imported and domestic cheeses will be among the fare offered by Jamie Hollander Gourmet Catering. Admission to the Summer Wine Tasting is $25; Members receive 1/2 price admission to all events. Limited tickets are available. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling 215-947-2004 or by sending an e-mail to info@cairnwood.org. Guests must be 21 years old or older to attend.

Lets Give Back, just by showing up!!!  The Funktion Band will be performing June 21 at Highlands Elementary School -12-4PM.  The Osprey Family Fair. This is a family event with ALL proceeds going direct to families still in much need to rebui ld their schools and homes from Sandy. Great music, Kids rides, games, and tasty food for all.
